TFF Model Magic: Casting for the 2025 Fashion Festival Ignites the Garden City!

It was a rainy day in the heart of the Garden City—a moody contrast to my first visit to Toowoomba earlier this year. That initial journey from Brisbane was marked by sunshine and curiosity as models, creatives, and fashion enthusiasts gathered for the first-ever TFF Model Casting. Little did we know that day would become the springboard for so much fun, creativity, style, and the undeniable model magic that would soon grace the inaugural catwalk.

Fast forward to November 30th: the excitement was palpable, and it felt like reconnecting with an old friend. Despite the rain, my determination to return to Toowoomba and rediscover the magic of the Garden City was unwavering. I wasn’t alone in braving the wet weather—models from across Queensland, from the Gold Coast to Brisbane and up to the Sunshine Coast, were also making their way, eager to take their shot at casting for Toowoomba’s upcoming Fashion Festival in March 2025.

I arrived in the heart of the Garden City’s centre and headed toward the casting space, tucked above a charming vintage furniture store. As I climbed the stairs, beautiful faces greeted me with warm smiles—many of whom were models from the first festival. A wave of familiarity washed over me as we exchanged greetings, rekindling the connections forged earlier this year.

In the hallway outside the judge’s room, models gathered, their energy magnetic as they swapped sneakers for heels. Dressed in the casting uniform of classic blue jeans and sleek white tees, they embodied elegance and professionalism, ready to make their mark once again.

Now, the cast sheet has been set—and a diverse, talented group has been selected, each model positioned to bring their unique energy and style to Toowoomba Fashion Festival’s March 2025 runway. The selection wasn’t easy, and for the models who weren’t cast this time, Julz and Christel offer a kindly reminder that persistence, passion, and growth are all part of the journey.

While the judges deliberated on the day, conversations flowed freely in the waiting area—a reminder of the friendships and connections that this community has fostered. The casting culminated with a sweet sense of comfort and solidarity, inspiring each model through the opportunity to connect with like-minded, style-obsessed individuals.

Until the next iconic style moment, Melanie.
